Become lost in time at the

Whangaruru Beach Front Camp

Whangaruru is the quintessential traditional Kiwi Camping experience. Whangaruru Beach Front Camp is tucked away in the sleeping Bay of Oakura. It is one of the last dinosaurs of the Kiwi camping era to survive.

Absolute Beach front, simple, uncomplicated, earthy. You need to bring your own stores, as the Camp is 30 miles from the nearest supermarket. You will need to stop at Whangarei to purchase stores, or Keri Keri, if you are coming from Northland.

There is no cell phone coverage at the camp, and you will need to drive to the next bay to make calls. A boat can be launched straight of the Beach into the Bay. The Poor Knights are about 20 minutes by Sea and offer some of the best diving in the Southern Hemisphere.
